Pinky

You Are a Pinky

You are fiercely independent, and possibly downright weird.
A great communicator, you can get along with almost anyone.
You are kind and sympathetic. You support all your friends - and love them for who they are.

You get along well with: The Ring Finger

Stay away from: The Thumb

Inspired by Nature KAL

Hello everybody, I got an email from a listener today, Tracy, regarding a new KAL that she has started. So, being the little informer that I am (lol) I immediately thought I would tell all of you about it!

Got and check it out!
Here is the gist of it:

See it.
Get outside- yeah- wear a hat-n-sunscreen- you'll be okay. Look around!
Find something beautiful, you want to capture in fiber!
Love it. Take a picture...Paint a picture...Draw a picture...or just remember it.
Find it. Start shopping- for a pattern and yarn that will help you capture what you saw.
Knit it. Join the KAL and cast-on! Post your progress!
Hope you check it out-

They are starting with a Cashmere Contest (wahoo)!

Kickin' my A**!!

**Sorry, too tired to write something different so I cut and pasted from the blog...Sorry**

I don't know what I have but my body feels like crap! My head is cloudy, my nose is stuffy, my throat is scratchy, and the cough...the cough sounds like I smoke 3 packs a day! (I don't smoke btw!) Some body put me out of my misery!

Worst yet, I can't seem to keep my eyes open long enough to get any knitting done! I know, I know, knit with my eyes closed...but my fingers don't seem to know what they are doing right now. Like they have been taken over by the bug too. Aughhh!

Anyway, thought I should get on here and let you all know where the heck I am. Don't worry I will be back soon (if this damn medicine will ever kick in!)

Where is Episode 11?

Sorry ya'll! I am not feeling too well and don't think it is a good idea to do a podcast this week.
I know, I know, that makes you all sad but just think of how much I will have to talk about next week with two weeks worth of things happening!

Until then, drop me a line and let me know what you have been working on, please?

I am really interested to know :-)

Love you all!

CONTEST!

Okay Ali, here they are. It took me some time to really think about them but I think I finally have a list of things that I can actually accomplish (ya right)...

Here is the deal everybody Ali is having a contest and I want to win :-)
Here is the 411- all you have to do is:

1.) Leave a comment on Her BLOG letting Ali know what color you want and mention who's blog you heard about the contest on...hello...MARLY aka YARN THING!!

2.) Then head to your blog and post a list of your summer knitting goals (there may be an end-of-summer contest of some sort to celebrate summer knitting accomplishments...) and mention this contest (with a link to this post- http://www.skeinsherway.com/2007/05/pre-summer-contest.html)

3.) Lastly e-mail Ali with the link to your post! (ali AT skeins her way DOT com) Be sure to mention in your post for anyone who follows your link to let her know what blog they jumped from as every 'referral' will earn you another entry! ( I know you won't let me down!)

Contest will run through the end of the month (May) and my talented children will draw three winning names (or secret blogging identities) out of a container of some sort on June 1st.

What can we win? First place winner will receive 1 copy of the tank pattern along with 4 hanks of Blue Sky Dyed Cotton in their choice of colors (I like Chocolate Brown)! Second & third place winners will each receive a copy of the pattern and whatever other goodies happen to jump into the package just before sealing and sending!

Summer Knitting (or related to knitting) Goals 2007

  1. Jill and I will have our website up and running efficiently by mid June!
  2. I will have patterns written for at least 6 more purses/bags!
  3. A book proposal will be submitted by the end of summer!
  4. Finish (and start) the PeaPod Sweater!
  5. Socks, Socks, Socks! Want to knit more socks...I don't care how many
  6. Keep the podcast Fun and Entertaining
  7. Knit Caden a sweater for his first year of pre-school in the fall.
  8. Knit Allura a sweater for Kindergarten in the fall.
  9. Teach John (yes, my husband) how to knit...long story that I will explain very soon.
  10. Crochet a baby blanket for my best friend who is having her fist baby (a little girl).
  11. Crochet a baby sweater and booties to match baby blanket!
Okay, I think that is it!

Make sure to mention to Ali that I sent you!

Episode 10

BEWARE THIS EPISODE GETS A LITTLE LOUD!

Dudes...be ready to adjust your volume! This is not a normal episode but a fun one non the less!

Ever get excited when you have a brush with greatness? For some it may be the Pope, for others it may be the President, but for Knitters and Crocheters...it is when a knitting/crochet designer/author crosses our path! Nothing like a little lovin' to make us screech like a little girl! I am not crazy, honestly, I am NOT crazy!

Listen today as I put my encounter with one such designer/author to music. I am referring to it as a soundtrack...but really it is more of a mixed tape (full of only 60 second songs to stay compliant!)

Oh ya, Jill joined me too :-)

Episode 9

Hello my lovelies...did you miss me? The new episode is up and ready for you to have a listen!

Music on the Show! (Yes...there is music today!)

Knitting/Crochet Groups:
There are wonderful groups of knitters and crocheters out there who want you to join them! Take some time and check out the Yahoo Groups for ones near or around your neighborhood. Or take a look at the guilds for chapters you can join. Trust me, you will be so happy that you did!

Cro-Knit Night:
Wanna start a fun little group right here? I thought it might be fun to do a podcast episode once a week that was just me sitting with my "project of the day" talking to you about anything that comes to mind. It will be unscripted, I could play music, I could do an online question and answer session...what do you think? Let me know if you want me to start that up!

KAL and CAL Podcast Rumble:
I have been talking with Shannon and Stephanie of the SSK podcast about a Podcast Rumble. And they have said that they think it would be a lot of fun. We haven't settled on any details so more information on all of this later! I promise...soon! One thing we do know is that we want to give our great prizes to random participants of the Podcast Rumble.

Prizes:
Do you hand dye yarn, or spin your own yarn, or make really cool knit or crochet related things? Wanna offer a few items up for prizes and gain some free (other than the cost of the item you are giving away) advertisement? Email me at marlybuff at aol dot com and we will chat!

Blogger Etiquette:
If you want to chat read what I was talking about click here.

Cro-Knit Night?

Hey, I recorded an episode the other day and I am not sure if you all would like to listen to it. So, I thought I would ask you on here first before I post it.

This is the scoop: I was working on some dishcloths (bored out of my mind) and thought it was a good time to talk to you all. So, I started to record my random thoughts as I was working away. And you know what? I really felt like I was talking to a bunch of friends at a Stitch and Bitch group. Then I thought to myself, maybe it would be cool to schedule every two weeks a Cro-Knit Night via Podcast? On nights that I don't have a SnB group set up I am usually working on my projects really late at night...all by myself. With a Cro-Knit Night Podcast Episode we all could have a SnB together...bingo...not alone anymore!

I could play a little music, chat, work on UFO's...etc.

What do you think?
Would you like to do that?

Leave me a comment and let me know.

Marly

P.S. the KAL and CAL Podcast Rumble is coming together nicely. Need to iron out some things first but more information is coming soon!
